Disney Designer Doll Dilemma
Hello all!!! I've been lurking on here ever since the beginning of the Designer Dolls launch. I have an issue and need some advice. I bought a Mulan on Ebay 2 weeks ago and paid thru Paypal. The seller was supposed to ship her out on the Friday and after many e-mails etc I never got a response. I finally had to open a dispute on paypal and of course that's when she decides to finally contact me. She was apparently sick and her computer crashed. Since then she's claimed to have sent the doll Canada Post (I live east of Toronto) and that the tracking number shows it's still at her town's post office. After many requests for the tracking number she still hasn't given it to me and keeps saying Canada Post doesn't know what's going on etc etc. I just have this feeling she's trying to drag it out til the 18 so I can't file a claim and try and get my money back. She e-mailed me today saying she would try and have more info for me in 24 hrs. At this point I don't even think she ever sent it out or even had one. I asked her what number the doll was when the auction closed and she said she didn't open it so she didn't know. I find that hard to believe. Her's was in the 4000 range and assumed it would be close to hers. Why wouldn't you open both and keep the one with the lower number???   I've filed a dispute for the charge on my credit card. It's driving me crazy because I want to try for another Mulan and get this charge off my credit card. Should I just escalate it to a claim on Paypal as well???

Yes, open claims. This will force her to do something as proof. Also keep eBay updated. And keep demanding the tracking number. There is no reason whatsoever as to why she can't give it to you

By the four different excuses and withholding easily-obtained information (the edition number is on a card on the back of the box), I wouldn't wait to escalate the dispute. At this point it's slim to nil you'll get Mulan from this seller, if they ever had the doll at all, so get your money back while you can.

In general I'd only buy from someone that offers both the edition number and photos of the doll that the seller took themselves, that also can't be found elsewhere online. Best of luck!

Files a claim ASAP!!! How much did you pay?

Yes, open the claim with ebay. It'll light a fire under her, so to speak, if she does have it. And if she doesn't, she won't rip you off. You have to always protect yourself first in situations like this.

FINALLY she e-mailed me back with
"Giving you the tracking number isn't going to change things.
But here it is:"

Well, what does the tracking number say? I mean, does it prove that you do have a package in transit?
Glendon PreeceGlendon Preece on October 5th, 2011 01:40 am (UTC)
It says it was shipped out on Sept 26 expected Delivery date was Sept 29 she sent it as a normal parcel and charged me over $30 for shipping when it would have been $20 at most.

Her feedback was all positive but I think this was her first sale since all her fb was about buying. The tracking only shows that it was dropped off at her post office, nothing else. I have filed a service ticket with Canada post to find out what's going on. The doll was 92 which isn't bad considering the cdn retail is 74.50+tax. But add another 30+ to that 92 for shipping and it's worth over $120 i asked for the fastest shipping possible and she picked the slowest and basically charged me double.

Just wanted to say, you don't have to 'open' the doll to find out her number. Take her out of the bag, yes, but not open her. It's not that difficult. I hope you get your doll or money back. Good luck hun~

It really sounds to me like this seller is jerking you around. Definitely file the claim before it's too late.

If you get something in the mail from her and you are worried it is not the doll take a video of you opening the package. Just in case. Make sure you can clearly see the shipping label ect. Open it on camera and if it is the doll all is good, but if it isn't you can send the video to paypal showing that you did not receive what you asked for.

I've had to open a few disputes. In general they side with the buyer and refund your money automatically. Or they tell the buyer to return the item before the seller has to repay the price which is sort of siding with both parties.

Thanks that's a great idea. If i ever receive it I will def do that.

Open a claim, and as the person above me suggested, you need to provide proof of the shipping stamps and stuff. I filed a dispute once over about $20, but considering I didn't have proof of when the item was shipped (compared to when it arrived: over 3 months!!), I didn't even get a partial refund. :/
If she shows up, then you just end the claim :o I hope you get her soon! It's a shame you're having to go through all of this.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I really hope you get her soon!

So i sent a msg through PayPal to the seller that i have filed a dispute for the charge on my credit card. I am sure she's gonna flip out lol Canada post doesn't seem to have any idea where the parcel is.

The exact same thing happened to me with a Cinderella journal! I over paid, but I really wanted it and after a month it came-I wasn't given a tracking number either)and the journal arrived dented and with a huge gash! What's more, the pen was scratched and missing the decorative jewels at the top. And to top all of that off the seller commented that I was an "impatient buyer."

I, too, am in Toronto. Sucks, but I hope you get your doll and, at the very least, an apology.
